It’s finally starting to feel like Fall in New York! Temperatures are getting below 70° and the leaves are changing colors. This reminded me of one of my favorite solo dates I took in the city following a short work day.
I think the best solo dates are fun, but also don’t drain your social battery too much. Taking time for yourself should leave you feeling refreshed and recharged. For the best solo date itinerary I suggest a combination of your tried and true comfort activities with something off your bucket list.
If you’re stuck for ideas or just want to try something new see below for my favorite fall solo date in NYC!
12:00pm- Coffee & a Bite to Eat
Since I started this solo date after a short work day I wanted to have a mid-day pick me up. I opted for a bucket list item: a coffee from Ralph’s!
Head to Ralph’s on the UES to get a coffee and quick bite to eat. I love their oat milk latte!

Take some time to people watch, catch-up on emails, or call a friend; it’s whatever you want to do on your solo date!
1:00pm- Walk in the park
You can take your coffee with you and head a couple blocks over to Central Park! Walks in the park are the perfect fall treat to check out all the foliage. The Central Park Conservatory even puts out a fall foliage map so you can know where to see the most vibrant colors and get the best Insta photo op!
If you’re from NYC then you probably don’t frequent Central Park as much as the tourists, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still appreciate it!
I like to stop by some of the street art vendors to find New York themed pieces. It’s take a little digging to find unique ones, but it’s always nice to buy local.
4:00pm- Shopping Columbus Circle
At this point on my solo date I headed to Columbus Circle to do some shopping. In my opinion Williams Sonoma is one of the best places to browse for yourself or to get a gift for someone else. Even if you’re not sure what to look for, the location at the Shops At Columbus Circle always has some great finds!
Maybe buy some pumpkin spice coffee or tea to keep the falls vibes going at home!
6:00pm- Girl Dinner
For a comfort food dinner full of Americana staples, which always scream fall to me, you can walk over to the Smith. Whether you’re a carb queen that loves mac n’ cheese or are feeling something lighter like a classic salad, I think the Smith provides options for everyone.
For those nervous about eating out alone you can always take a book, journal, or just scroll on your phone. Solo dining in NYC is common, and some people prefer to sit at the bar to make convo with other lone diners and the bartender.
I’d love to hear about how you love to spend time alone! Connect with me on my social media!
